Pentimenti is pleased to continue its ongoing partnership with the Hyde Park Art Center to offer a new class this fall: Advanced Documentary Video. This course will introduce participants to advanced techniques in documentary filmmaking, including pre-production, cinematography, and editing. In tandem with the instructors, the class will develop and produce a short documentary film exploring how Hyde Park murals reflect the neighborhood’s residents, history, and issues. This class will appeal to documentarians seeking to hone their craft or expand their skill set; artists and curators who wish to learn best practices for using video to document artworks; and local residents interested in exploring their neighborhood through the lens of documentary film. Please note, computer literacy and prior familiarity with filmmaking are required. Participants are expected to attend all eight sessions.

This class will appeal to: documentarians interested in workshopping a project; artists, curators, and conservators who wish to learn best practices for using video for documentation and marketing purposes; and first-time filmmakers looking for a crash course on production essentials. All experience levels are welcome!
